What is Cellulite

Cellulite!  You can call it orange peel skin or cottage cheese thighs.  Call it what you want, it’s the bane of existence for women everywhere!  We all have it and we all hate it!  I don’t care how slim you are, everyone has cellulite and getting rid of cellulite is the great equalizer in the battle of the bulge!  Mainly because this bulge and getting rid of cellulite, has no direct connection to whether or not someone is overweight.

Yes, Cellulite is fat.  But it’s not fat you can necessarily fight using diet and exercise.    Every woman in America has tried to diet and exercise her way out of those unsightly lumps and bumps seeing little or no improvement.  It can be very discouraging and extremely frustrating.  Is there a cure for cellulite?  What is cellulite exactly and why does it plague everyone?   Is it true that diet and exercise won’t work to rid the body of cellulite?  If that is true, what does work?  Is there a cure or any remedy to help rid our bodies of cellulite?  What can aid us in our battle of getting rid of cellulite?

There are those who say there is no cure for cellulite.  But I have to believe in this modern age there must be some remedy to rid us of the plague cellulite is upon all of our bodies!  People everywhere are getting rid of cellulite, what can I do in my battle of getting rid of cellulite?

For people facing large weight loss the first plan of action is to work to improve eating habits and increase physical exercise.  In thinking about your desire to look better and in getting rid of cellulite; you must lose the excess fat you’re carrying around before you can address any problems with cellulite.  Once you have lost the excess fat and have your weight down to a manageable number you will be better able to deal with the trouble spots left on your body and start to aggressively attack the cellulite.  Then you will be well on your way to getting rid of cellulite!

What causes cellulite?  Well, it occurs in the fat layer just between the skin.  What happens is fat cells get trapped between the skin and the muscle layer.  While there are many things that can cause cellulite like poor diet, lack of exercise even poor lymphatic flow and inadequate water intake; hormones and heredity can also play a part.   The truth is anyone can get it and we can get it for any number of reasons.

What makes it getting rid of cellulite so hard?  One of the worse things about cellulite is that it seems to primarily occur in women.  Men aren’t plagued with this problem the way we are.  That could have something to do with the muscle mass ratios in men as compared to women.  Perhaps build muscle mass might help us in the fight towards getting rid of cellulite.  It couldn’t hurt.

Some causes of cellulite are also linked to changes in metabolism and physiology.  Since cellulite seems to mainly plague women I’m starting to believe it’s related to hormones imbalances more than anything.  Since the storage of cellulite happens after puberty I believe it’s our body’s way of storing fat for childbearing.  Unfortunately, our hormones don’t care much what our stomach hips and thighs look like.  They only care that we need to support new life and want to prepare our bodies for that event.    Our hormones don’t seem to want to aid our fight in getting rid of cellulite.  Maybe if scientists look there they will find a real cure for getting rid of cellulite.
